Twilight? D: What's so funny about my computer?

...Twilight? Oh god. D:

(I am looking for people to critque how the shading and stuff came out for this. I tried a few things WAY differently.)

(Also, Vector found here: [link] I do not know who made it.)

A critique of the shading

You chose a pretty difficult picture, because there is a light source from the window in the background, and one from somewhere behind the camera. Plus there seems to be alight source from above...

The shadow on the chair is too much... I think you would only see a shadow directly below twilight... Similar to the table under the window.

As for shading on twilight. She should only have shading on her side facing the chair, and her downward facing surfaces. Right now she is shaded a bit too much... This is a bright environment, but the light is pretty diffuse.

I hope this helps...

I think, personally, that I chose a somewhat more difficult picture to work with here because of how weirdly the lighting set up was. There was no 'dominate' source of lighting, it was all fairly muted. ^^; I am in no way attempting to cover my ass here, I know a screwed up MAJORLY with the shading, as several people have pointed out to me in private. I am hoping to get better fairly soon with this though, I enjoy ponies and Photoshop.

Are these old photos that you are shopping the ponies into, or do you take a photo with the intent of putting a pony in? if it is the latter, you might want to think about putting in a small, irregularly shaped object (like a teddy bear or animal figurine) in the photo where it will be covered up by the pony vector. This object would give you a reference on how the pony should be shaded (and highlighted), and what kind of shadow would be cast.

They are all taken with the idea to put a pony in it. I hadn't thought of that before, thank you.

Though with my dogs, this may prove slightly challenging. :p
